The anchor verse for Protect the Brand is Ephesians 6:10-20 New International Version (NIV).
The Armor of God
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. 19 Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.
As Christians we should Support, Encourage, and Sharpen each other. So in May 2013 “Protect the Brand “was born to equip Christians to be authentic followers of Jesus Christ. Ephesians 6:10-20 was chosen as the anchor scipture for “Protect the Brand” because it instructs on what a Christian need to do to stand firm to devote yourself more fully to Protect the Brand, rise above secular standards of living, and emerge victorious.
In verses 11 and 12, Paul begins by acknowledging adversarial spiritual forces that are under the control of a dark and scheming spiritual leader. The devil is a very real and dangerous opponent but many Christians are reluctant to express belief that Satan exists. The Bible is very clear about the reality of evil spirits. We cannot Protect the Brand if we don’t acknowledge the existence of Satan.
Additionally, this scripture passage was chosen because Paul also speaks in verse 11 about putting on the new self (achieved only through salvation in Jesus Christ). Whatever Christians lack that make themselves weak, incomplete, inadequate, God will supply according to His will and purpose. We are not strong enough to Protect the Brand by our strength, but can with God’s power.
The battle is not of the flesh. When you think of battles, it is often thought of as the armor to protect our fleshly bodies. However, when we stand up for Christian principles, Protecting the Brand, our battles are not against flesh and blood, rulers, or authorities; but against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. In Ephesians 6:13-17, Paul exhorts us to put on the armor of God by conveying the resources we need as believers to oppose the devil and Protect the Brand of Christianity. Protecting the Brand means living according to the new life that God has given us in Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit.
Finally in versus 18-20 Paul draws special attention to prayer; not only as a part of the armor but the tool by which all other pieces of the armor are effective. The Bible says in 2 Timothy 3:12 “In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,”
