PDP – Personal Development Plan

At the end of the 2013 year, I was working on my Performance Review at work for 2013.  One of the items included in the review is a PDP.  In the PDP, I have items that I wanted to implement to help me grow from my current position to the next level.

I’m RW and let’s have a fireside chat about “PDP = Personal Development Plan”

When it comes to your spiritual growth as a Christian do you have a PDP?  First the word “Personal” is defined as “belonging or relating to a particular person” a second definition is “made or designed to be used by one person”.  Is your relationship personal with Christ?

Do you take time out daily to spend one-on-one time to talk to the Lord and more importantly to listen to what He has to say?  Jesus knows us personally and He wants us to desire to know Him personally.  Jeremiah 29:11, John 1:10-13, John 14:6-14 and Revelation 3:20.

The next word is “Development” and it is defined as “the act or process of growing or causing something to grow or become larger or more advanced”.  Are you advancing in your growth with Christ or are you still at the same place you were last year? Here are a few scriptures about “Development” – 2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter3:18 and 1 Corinthians 15:58

The last word is “Plan” and it is defined as “a set of actions that have been thought of as a way to do or achieve something”. Here are a few scriptures about “Plan” – Proverbs 16:3, Proverbs 21:5 and Isaiah 32:8.

Part of my PDP regarding my personal relationship with the Lord and spiritual growth is to have a life verse  linking back to the plan.  Psalm 25:4-5 Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths.5 Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.” What is your life verse for your PDP with the Lord?

The New Year 2014 is here.  So many people are creating New Year’s resolutions.  Most by February will be put aside.  How about creating a PDP with Christ?  Seek Christ’s will for your life in 2014 by praying and getting more into God’s word.  A sample PDF should seek to glorify God, seek God’s will for your life, and grow  in His image.  Having a Personal Development Plan positions you to grow closer to the Lord.  As you grow closer to the Lord your faith will grow.  It will be like Habakkuk 3:19 The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights.
