Deciding Vote
In life we have to make all kinds of decisions. We get up and we decide on what we are going to wear that day, what we are going to try to accomplish that day, and what time we are going to end our daily activities. I think of them as mini voting opportunities.
I’m RW and let’s have a fireside chat about “Deciding Vote”.
One morning on my way to church my wife mentioned to me about a message she heard on the radio. A Pastor was speaking on how Jesus Christ is for you. He wants the best for your life and wants you to experience His love (Romans 5:1, John 10:7-10, John 10:14 and John 3:16). Then you have Satan who is against you and his purpose is DESTROY you. Satan is like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8 and Ephesians 6:10-12). So you have one vote for you and one vote against you. Now you have the deciding vote. As a Christian we should choose Jesus Christ.
However, there are still deciding votes in our lives. Jesus guides us daily; however, we have to be willing to listen. Jesus tells us “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” (Isaiah 30:21). We have to vote (decide) if we are going to be obedient to God direction are not. The sinful nature we have continues to pull us to the ‘No’ vote to God’s will (Romans 7:18 and Galatians 5:17a). The Bible tells us when we are in the flesh we cannot please God. Romans 8:4-8 “ 4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.5 Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. 7 The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. 8 Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.”
Because as a Christian we have Christ in us we can lean on God’s Spirit to guide us to the ‘Yes’ vote. Romans 8: 9 -13 “9 You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. 10 But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness. 11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.
12 Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. 13 For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.”
The point I wanted to make is that after voting for Christ we have the Spirit of God to help us in the upcoming votes that come our way daily. Being led by the Spirit is truly the best way to go in our lives. Scripture says if we are led by the Spirit of God we are the Children of God (Romans 8:14)
I am so thankful and blessed that I voted ‘Yes’ for Christ. He changed my life for the better. I am overwhelmed with joy as He continues to work in my life. I know have the Holy Spirit to help guide me in future votes. What a wonderful blessing.
Have a Blessed and Happy Thanksgiving!!! Protect the Brand of Jesus Christ.
