First Responder – First Aid
At my church I have been taking a First Responder First Aid class. The course purpose is to equip everyday people to be able to respond correctly to someone that may be hurting, injured or in distressed. Being the first person on a scene could make the difference in helping that person to live or die.

Wow being the first person on a scene could make the difference in helping that person to live or die. That is a huge statement. As a Christian you can be a spiritual first responder first aider. For someone who is unsaved you may want to share with them about who Jesus Christ is and that if anyone who calls on his name and trust in Him as their Lord and Savior will be saved Romans 10:13. Another scripture is Romans 10: 9-10 “9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” You can be a spiritual first responder first aider to the lost by sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. If they accept to receive your first aid or later they pray to receive Jesus Christ and you were involved in the process that saved them from an eternal death Ephesians 2:8-9 “8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.”
You can be a first responder first aider in other Christian lives by disciplining, encouraging or loving on them. There are so many challenges that come our way and giving an encouraging will make a difference in someone’s life Proverbs 16:24 “Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones”. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing” Being able to share God’s word will remind them or point them to truth which will have a positive impact in their lives. Being a spiritual first responder first aider will make a difference.
In my first aid study book there is a section called “What is First Aid?” the definition given is the immediate care given to an injured or suddenly ill person. It also states first aid does not take the place of proper medical care. Just remember as being a spiritual first responder first aider our responsibility is to be sensitive and obedient to the Holy Spirit and when prompted we respond and aid in The Lord’s work. We are to aid but it is God who gives the proper spiritual medical attention. As a medical first responder I have to read my study book and stay up to date on the way to treat a person. The same applies to being a spiritual first responder you study and meditate on God’s word the Bible. I remember my spiritual first responder who gave me aid. Now I have a new spiritual life in Jesus Christ 2 Corinthians 5: 17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:[a] The old has gone, the new is here!”
