Game Plan

On Feb 02, 2014 Super Bowl XLVIII (Forty Eight) was played.  The Seattle Seahawks won 43 to 8 over the Denver Broncos.  The two teams had two weeks to prepare for the game. Each team had a game plan with playbooks they practiced to ensure they knew what plays they wanted to execute under certain conditions.  The game was very bad from the first play for Denver and they never recovered. Denver was overwhelmed by Seattle and appeared defeated well before the game was scheduled to end.

I’m RW and let’s have a fireside chat about “What is your game plan?”

The Super Bowl is the biggest game for the NFL.  All season teams play with the hopes of being in that game at the end of the season.  For us as Christian we live our Super Bowl moments every day.  ”What is your game plan?”  The playbook that prepares us for our Super Bowl moments is the Bible.  Can you image going into a game with no game plan.  Losing is most likely the outcome.   For some folks their salvation experience is the end of their Christian involvement and activities. They never read or study the game plan (Bible).  Some may only get in the game every seven days when they go to church.  It is true that the Bible for some is only opened one day of the week.   Do they really understand the game plan? Now the Christians that study the game plan on a daily basis should be the most prepared for the game they are going to enter.

Once you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior you have Salvation.  But the Lord God loves you so much that He wants you to spend time with Him.  Spending time with Him  means getting in His word (playbook) and seeking Him with all our heart.  Getting the playbook will reveal the steps the Lord God wants you to take and to know His will. Psalm 32:8

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.”

When we are in God’s playbook we are prepared for the challenges that come our way.  Joshua 1:8Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”  Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” Isaiah 58:11The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.”

Here are more scriptures that may encourage you when studying the Lord God’s playbook.

2 Timothy 3:16-17All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Psalm 37:23The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him;

Psalm 119:9 How can a young person stay on the path of purity?  By living according to your word.

Proverbs 30:5Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.

Proverbs 2:1-5 My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you,
turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding—indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God
.

Will your game plan prepare you like the Denver Broncos?  Not ready for what comes your way, overwhelmed by your circumstances and defeated.  Or will your game plan prepare you like the Seattle Seahawks?  Ready for what comes your way and on the path of victory for the Lord God.    By studying and applying the game plan of God (The Bible), you are prepared to

“Protect the Brand” of Jesus Christ.
