Undercover

There is a television show that I watch from time to time called Undercover Boss. The show is about how senior leadership usually the person in charge puts on a disguise to go to work in their company. They do not want to be recognized by others but want to fit in so they can see how the daily activities operate.  Most of the time they go unrecognized and near the end they reveal themselves to the people they came in contact with and reward them with gifts.  I’m RW and let’s have a fireside chat about “Are you an Undercover Christian?”

Jesus said in Matthew 10:32-33 32 “Everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. 33 But everyone who denies me here on earth, I will also deny before my Father in heaven.”  Why as a Christians at times we go out into the world and hide who we are in Christ?  Are you ashamed or afraid of being a Christian when it comes to your everyday life; for example, in the workplace, at the local sporting event, your children’s activities, when you go out to eat, or at the mall? God wants engage the world with His truth and the message of Salvation.

We should not be timid to shine the light of Jesus to all we encounter – 2 Timothy 1:7 “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.”  I not saying you have to walk around holding a literal sign that reads “I am a Christian” or “I believe in Jesus Christ”.  But you should have live a life of holy boldness and confidents of Jesus Christ in your life so that others see Jesus Christ living in you.  If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! Don’t be an Undercover Christian. We have to remember we should live a life that give glory to the Lord and not man or ourselves.

You see on the television show Undercover Boss when the Boss reveals who he is usually he also gives gifts to the employees.   I think about the day a Christian revealed Jesus to me.  My life was never the same after that.  It was changed for the better that day forward. I think about Luke 17:30 “Yes, it will be ‘business as usual’ right up to the day when the Son of Man is revealed.”  When you reveal Christ to others you are giving them the greatest gift of all the gift of experiencing Christ in their lives and the gift of Eternal life.  Even sharing the love of Christ with fellow Christians is a gift. It is the gift of empowerment and encouragement in their walk with Christ.  If you share with someone who isn’t a Christian it is showing them Love, Hope and Faith in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.  John 17:26 reads “I have revealed you to them, and I will continue to do so. Then your love for me will be in them, and I will be in them.” Now that is empowering and encouraging.

Jesus does not want to be the Undercover Boss. He wants to be known and revealed to the entire world for his Love.  As a Christian I challenge you not to be an Undercover Christian but to live out Titus 2:11 “For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people.”
